How do instant bank transfers work?

If you hold an ISA, Junior ISA, General Investment Account, Personal Pension, Simple Saver, or one of our Lifetime ISAs, you can add money to your account in minutes with an instant bank transfer. You can pay in upwards of £100 from your linked bank account in Accounts > Tap on your account > Add money.

If depositing into one of our investment accounts, you’re able to choose whether your instant bank transfer is added to your Available Cash, or invested directly into your chosen investment allocation.

If depositing into a Pension, your transfer will be automatically invested according to your chosen investment allocation.

Please also note that some banks may have additional security steps to process larger payments, such as the use of a card reader.

We’ll let you know via email when your bank transfer has arrived - this typically takes minutes, but can take up to 24 hours.

Once you’ve made your transfer, you can see the payment listed in Accounts > Select account > Activity, as well as in your Available Cash balance if applicable.

What if I’m having trouble using instant bank transfers?

If the funds haven’t left your bank account, then it’s typically safe to reattempt the transfer. One of the most common causes of issues is banks heightening their security on these types of transactions - so if you’re having recurring issues the best place to check would be with your bank directly!

Some banks require additional security in order to make instant transfers, such as the use of a card reader 🔐

If you’re getting an error message within the app saying that instant bank transfers aren’t available for you, there should be an error message within the Home tab which will be specific to your account, and this will likely be why instant transfers are not currently available.

If not, drop our Support Team a message via the in-app chat, or by email to support@moneyboxapp.com, and the team will help out!
