How to use Home-buying Gifts to let family and friends add funds to your Cash LISA.

For our Cash LISA customers, we’ve introduced Home-buying Gifts, which are a way for family and friends to help you on your home-buying journey by making gift deposits into your account.

You can access your gift link in Accounts > LISA, or in the Settings menu. Links can be shared with as many people as you’d like, however only four gifters can add money to your LISA per tax year, with a maximum of £500 each. This means that up to £2,000 of the £4,000 you can pay into your LISA per tax year can come from your family and friends!

Gifters just need to follow your gift link to securely send their gifts via instant bank transfer - they don’t need to be Moneybox customers themselves. Once they’ve successfully completed a bank transfer, this money will arrive in your Cash LISA within a few minutes, and you’ll both get an email confirming the payment.

You can keep track of the gifts you’ve received in the app in Accounts > LISA > Recent activity.

Please note that, outside of Home-buying Gifts, all payments into your Moneybox account must come from your Direct Debit linked bank account, which must be a UK current account in your name.

A 25% government penalty applies if you withdraw money from a Lifetime ISA for any reason other than buying your first home (up to £450,000) or for retirement, and you may get back less than you paid into your Lifetime ISA.
