How does Scottish tax relief work for pensions?

Written by Alex

For Scottish taxpayers, the usual tax relief rules will apply. Taxpayers on the starter rate of 19% as well as those on other income tax bands, are eligible to receive the 25% government top-up on their pension contributions.

For taxpayers on the 21%, 42%, 45% and 48% rate bands, additional tax relief can be claimed through a self-assessment tax return or by contacting HMRC.
