You can check how your investments are performing by viewing your simple return in Accounts > Select your account - this will be displayed as a +/- figure next to your account balance.

Your simple return is calculated by dividing your current earnings (your overall gains or losses plus any fees and bonuses) by your net contributions (your total contributions minus your total withdrawals).

We also show time-weighted returns under Accounts > Tap on your account > Breakdown. There are two types of time weighted returns - lifetime and annual. Lifetime time-weighted returns are the total return of your investments over the time you’ve held them, while annualised time-weighted returns are the average annual performance of your investments.

One benefit of annualised time-weighted returns is that they can be compared to an annual equivalent rate (AER), which is the interest rate offered by a savings account. So, if you have made the same deposits or withdrawals in both an investment and savings account, you can directly compare the returns of both accounts by comparing the interest rate to your annualised time-weighted return.

Finally, if you are a Stocks & Shares ISA customer and invest in US stocks, you can see the number of shares you hold and your investment gains in Accounts > Stocks & Shares ISA > Portfolio > Tap the relevant stock.
